FAW Update: Suspension Of Domestic Football in Wales extended until at least 15th May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Last month, the FAW’s Board of Directors (20 March) exercised their powers to indefinitely extend the 2019/20 season for all National Leagues, National Cup Competitions and the FAW Futsal League.

The current working documents for the Cymru Leagues and Welsh Premier Women’s Leagues have been shared with Clubs, in order to find a solution for the resumption of football when it is safe to do so.

The statement below, previously issued by our insurance providers Bluefin, is still in effect.

“Neither the Countycover Liability insurance package or Personal Accident insurance arranged through the Football Association of Wales will respond to claims if clubs continue to provide sessions which is against the advice of the Government and Governing Body.

"This includes clubs arranging matches, training sessions, friendlies, competitions and tournaments.

"Furthermore, as Personal Accident insurance does not provide cover in respect of Sickness, Disease or Illness, there is no cover for a person contracting COVID-19 whilst playing or training.

"There is an obligation for all officials to take all reasonable precautions to ensure the wellbeing of members and we thank you for your co-operation at this unprecedented time."

Above all, the most important priority for the FAW is the health and wellbeing of everyone. The FAW encourages everyone to follow the advice of the UK & Welsh Governments and Public Health Wales. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the pandemic.

2019/20 Season Update

Given everything that is currently happening in our society, the challenges facing everyone in the coming months, the current FAW statements on football in Wales and the unlikelihood of anything happening in the grass roots football community for the foreseeable future the League has taken the decision that all age group divisions for the 2019/20 season are to be declared null and void.

Hopefully, we can all stay safe and healthy and look to start up fresh sometime in the Autumn. In the meantime everyone look after yourselves and we hope to see everyone next season.

Cup Finals 2019/20 Update

After lengthy discussions within the Executive Committee we have made the reluctant decision that this years cup finals are to be cancelled.

We cannot look to book another date for the Stadium as the safety of everyone who attends these games must take priority, none of us know how long this terrible virus is going to be around  and the Stadium's availability after 5th April is a complete unknown. At present we have concerns whether we will even be able to start the new season in September.

We appreciate it is a great shame for the coaches/managers and children that have worked so hard to get to this stage of their respective competitions and on that note we have decided to give all cup finalist a trophy. It will be engraved "Cup Finalist 2019/2020".

As you can appreciate this is not a decision we have taken lightly but given all the information available to us is one we felt had to be made.

Our apologies to all the coaches, players and supporters but we feel this decision is in the best interests of everyone welfare and well being.
